These terms define the scope of M4Rent's dedicated Mac mini dedicated hardware rental service, the responsibilities of both parties, and usage restrictions. Placing an order means you have read and agreed to all terms below.

01Service Definition
M4Rent provides users with rental access to dedicated Apple Mac mini physical servers. Except as explicitly stated below, no other service commitments are implied:
Dedicated hardware: each unit is assigned to a single account for the duration of the rental term, with no virtualization or CPU, memory, or disk sharing with other users.
Administrative access: an administrator account is provided upon delivery, giving you root-level system access to install software, modify system configuration, and reinstall macOS as needed.
Networking: each unit connects via a shared 1Gbps port and is assigned a dedicated IPv4 address.
Billing cycles: daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly plans are available, starting at $20.1/day; see the Plans page and Portal checkout for current pricing.
Snapshots: the platform automatically performs one system-disk snapshot per day as a supplementary recovery aid (see the responsibility split in Clause 6).
The service does not include: licenses for operating systems other than macOS, third-party platform accounts or their subscriptions, or licenses for your own business software.
02Account Responsibilities
You are responsible for all activity on your account and on any device under it, including:
Credential security: safeguard your Portal login password, SSH keys, and device administrator credentials. You bear any losses resulting from leaked credentials; if a leak occurs, reset your credentials in the Portal immediately and report it via our contact page or support@m4rent.com.
Accurate information: your registered email and payment details must be true and valid. Orders paid with stolen payment instruments will be canceled and the associated account permanently banned.
Business accounts: if purchasing on behalf of an organization, you must have authority to represent that organization; invoice details are based on what is entered at checkout.
No sub-renting: you may share a device with your own team members, but may not resell, sub-rent, or sell time-sliced access to the whole unit to any third party in any form.
03Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
Rented devices may only be used for lawful development, build, testing, and computing purposes. Any of the following, once confirmed, will be handled per the process in Clause 7:
Bulk messaging abuse: sending spam, mass account registration, SMS bombing, or running any bulk messaging system without recipient consent.
Network attacks: launching DDoS attacks, port scans, exploit attempts, brute-force attacks, or unauthorized penetration testing against third-party systems.
Cryptocurrency mining: running any form of mining software. The Mac mini's power and thermal design is not built for sustained full-load mining, and such workloads can trigger hardware protection and affect other devices in the same rack.
Violating Apple's software license terms: redistributing copies of macOS, reselling system images, or nesting virtualization to bypass Apple's software licensing terms. M4Rent's dedicated hardware architecture inherently complies with the requirement that macOS run on Apple-branded hardware, and users may not take actions that undermine this compliance basis.
Unlawful content: storing or distributing infringing content, fraud-related material, malware, or other unlawful content.
We identify abuse through traffic patterns and resource usage monitoring; this does not involve reading the contents of your disk (see boundaries in our Privacy Policy). If you're running legitimate workloads that may trigger false positives — such as load testing or security research — we recommend filing a ticket in advance to flag it.
04SLA & Credits
M4Rent commits to a monthly 99.9% availability target for every device (equivalent to no more than 43 minutes of cumulative downtime per month). Availability is determined by our monitoring system, with downtime counted from whichever comes first: the ticket you submit or the monitoring alert being triggered. Missed targets are compensated with account credit per the table below, applied automatically and redeemable against any order:
Monthly availability
Cumulative downtime
Credit (% of monthly fee)
≥ 99.9%
≤ 43 min

99.0% – 99.9%

95.0% – 99.0%
7.2 – 36 hrs

< 95.0%

The following do not count toward downtime: interruptions caused by your own actions (OS reinstalls, network configuration changes, accidental deletion of critical files); failures in your own application software; or regional network outages due to force majeure. Credit claims must be submitted via ticket within 30 days of the end of the affected month. Account credit is the sole form of compensation and is non-refundable in cash.
05Billing & Refunds
Fees are prepaid in full at checkout, under the following rules:
Daily plans: charged upon activation, non-refundable. Daily billing is best suited to short-term evaluation; check the spec comparisons on the Plans page before ordering to confirm your configuration.
Weekly plans: refundable within 24 hours of activation, with the used days deducted (calculated at the equivalent daily rate for the model) before the remaining balance is returned.
Monthly / quarterly plans: refundable within 72 hours of activation, with the used days deducted (at the daily rate) before the remaining balance is returned; no refunds after 72 hours.
Upgrades: you may upgrade to a higher-tier model at any time during your rental term by paying the price difference for the remaining term; data migration is handled with platform assistance. Downgrades are not eligible for a partial refund.
Renewals: renewal opens 7 days before expiry, extending your term accordingly; devices not renewed by the expiry date stop service, with data retained for 72 hours per Clause 6.
Refund method: refunds are returned to the original payment method; orders terminated for abuse (Clause 7) are not eligible for any refund.
06Data & Backup Responsibility Split
Data responsibilities are divided as follows:
Your responsibility: all data on the device's disk belongs to you, and critical data must be backed up off-device by you (e.g., to a Git remote, object storage, or local storage). Snapshots are a supplementary recovery aid, not a backup guarantee.
Our responsibility: we perform one system-disk snapshot daily and retain the most recent 7; you can self-service rollback in the Portal. Snapshots are stored on independent media on the same node and are not replicated across regions.
Data erasure: after your term ends or an order is terminated, data is retained for 72 hours for you to export; after that, a full wipe is performed, which is unrecoverable, and we bear no responsibility for data loss after this deadline.
Hardware failure: if a disk or other hardware component fails, we will replace the hardware and make a best effort to restore from the most recent snapshot, but we cannot guarantee recovery of data created after the snapshot's timestamp.
07Suspension & Termination
Abuse handling process:
Upon detecting suspected violations of Clause 3, we send a warning to your account email, requiring remediation and a reply within 24 hours.
If unresolved or repeated, we suspend network access to the device; you can still export data via the Portal.
For external attacks, bulk messaging abuse, or other conduct actively causing third-party harm, we reserve the right to suspend network access immediately without prior warning, and notify you afterward.
For confirmed serious or repeated violations, we terminate the order and ban the account, with no refund of remaining fees; data is retained for 72 hours before erasure.
Non-payment: an order not renewed by its expiry date is treated as unpaid and receives a 72-hour grace period. If renewed within this window, service continues uninterrupted and your term extends from the original expiry date; if not renewed by the end of the grace period, service stops and enters a 72-hour data retention period, after which data is erased.
Voluntary termination: you may deactivate a device at any time via the Portal, with fees handled per the refund rules in Clause 5.
08Disclaimers, Governing Law & Changes
Limitation of liability: except for the SLA credits described in Clause 4, M4Rent's total liability for indirect losses arising from service interruptions or data loss (including lost profits or business interruption) is capped at the fees paid for the affected order during the current billing period. You are solely responsible for the business you run on the device and any legal consequences arising from it.
Governing law & dispute resolution: the formation, validity, interpretation, and performance of these terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which our operating entity is based. Any disputes arising from these terms shall first be resolved through good-faith negotiation; if negotiation fails, either party may bring an action before a court of competent jurisdiction in that jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms: updates will be announced at least 7 days in advance via your account email and a notice on this page, with the new version number and effective date noted at the top. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms; if you do not agree, you may request order termination before the effective date per the rules in Clause 5.
If you have questions about these terms, email support@m4rent.com or reach out via our contact page; for billing and usage questions, check the Support Center first.
